Fuse box advice
“Mike fitted a batten light at short notice at a reasonable price. He also advised about an outdated fuse box in my garage. Would recommend to anyone needing an electrician.”

Old boards can’t protect you the way a modern one does.

Fuse wire

Old rewireable fuses instead of switches.

No RCD

Nothing to cut the power if something goes wrong.

Plastic or wooden

Old plastic units or a wooden backboard.

Keeps tripping

Circuits trip with no obvious reason.

Questions

Fuse box FAQs

Can’t see your question? Give us a ring on 0151 792 3243.

How long does it take?

Most fuse box replacements take around a day.

Will my power be off?

Yes, for part of the day while the new board goes in. We’ll tell you roughly how long before we start.

What is an RCD?

A safety switch that cuts the power in a fraction of a second if there’s a fault, protecting you from electric shock and reducing fire risk.

Is a fuse box swap notifiable?

Yes. It has to be done by a registered electrician and notified to building control. We handle that and you get the certificate.

What if you find a fault?

We test your circuits first. If something needs fixing, we’ll explain it and price it before doing anything else. If the wiring itself is past it, we’ll talk you through a rewire.
